About us
Committed to Excellence
As part of the Erasmus+ project "TaTaBooks - Talking Tactile Books for Visually Impaired Children", innovative learning materials for blind and visually impaired children were created. A total of eight partners from four countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia) were involved. The project was completed at the end of 2023.
The project addresses the special needs of blind and visually impaired students. For this purpose, tailor-made, 3D printing-based learning materials were developed that are both knowledge-imparting and entertaining. This physical content is also supplemented by audio and online content. Their development was a highly interactive process involving schools from all partner countries as well as experts in the fields of 3D printing, IT, didactics, natural sciences and science communication. It was particularly important to the project team that the end beneficiaries, i.e. teachers and children, were involved in the creation of the tools by actively accompanying every development step, testing the materials and providing valuable feedback.
The TaTaBooks project aimed to take decisive steps towards better inclusion of blind and visually impaired children by supporting teachers with much-needed tools beyond the project's duration, expanding their digital skills and promoting networking with colleagues in Europe who face similar challenges. The project, and the materials and content developed as a result, made both teaching and learning more enjoyable and productive. The children were enabled to experience and develop their superior tactile skills in new ways.
